Global Art Exhibit | South Africa

By | Celebrity Balls | No Comments

In a world so focused on celebrities and pop culture, Mr. Ballsy was inspired to combine these topics with art to draw attention to his mission in life – creating awareness for Testicular Cancer!

The media has a tendency to draw our focus away from issues that may make us feel uncomfortable or fearful. Testicular Cancer falls under this criteria and our Mr. Ballsy was inspired to use profound public figures as a way to bring awareness to this delicate topic. He achieves this by using art in a tangible way to keep the heart of his mission in perspective.

This Celebrity Balls Exposed art display is a unique part of the global awareness that the Mr. Ballsy campaign is initiating. There will be 10 major cities across the globe presented sporadically conveying the importance of detection, prevention, and treatment during Testicular Cancer awareness month this April.

Each Ballsy piece is customized to the particular country the public figure resides in and illustrates two very distinct characteristics, illuminating the balls of the matter.

Before occupying a canvas, each image was an idea; hand-drawn by Thomas Cantley, then brought to life with colour and digitally mastery by Nicole Richard.

This is our opportunity to raise awareness, and your opportunity to take heed of our advice!! Be in control of your health, and be ballsy!!

Nelson Mandela was Born Ballsy

Nelson Mandela was the face of peace, justice and equality worldwide and is a highly regarded public figure to the South African people. He put his life on the line (and his balls) for his beliefs. The cost of that was spending 27 years behind bars, but this never deterred him from his mission, and in the end he was the successor over oppression. The world will always remember Mandela for his courage and tenacity for his actions.29839_413026305752_884061_n

Be Ballsy and Love Your Nuts!

And look who it is peeking out from around mister Mandela, Torsten Koehler! Torsten is a former teacher and testicular cancer survivor. He used his experience to educate his students and young men about detection, which in turn saved the life of a 16 year old. He is the founder of “Love your Nuts” campaign and has also written a book! He is highly recognized for his contributions with educating people on the importance of this issue.

Mandela had it right when he said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can change the world”, and Torsten Koehler is doing just that! Koehler believes that “we are educating by going balls and talking nuts”. So with that in mind, let’s get the ball rolling and spread the knowledge of nuts!

“Don’t let nobody touch it, unless that somebody’s me”

By | Updates | No Comments

Sigh, Adam Levine. You know just the words to a woman’s heart and well, other explicative body parts that just make us melt. Speaking of body parts, there’s a couple we need to address not just on Valentine’s Day, but every month of the year. Ladies, as you’re spending your Valentine’s Day with that special someone or watching 50 Shades of Grey in a sold out theatre, think about two very important things… balls.

50shadesofgrey-image_webI know when you hear, “balls,” you probably think of one of two things, the bouncy air-filled object that’s used in sports or those two dangling sacks of flesh hanging from a man’s scrotum. I am not talking about the balls on the court, rather, the special balls in your life and your bedroom.

cosmo-articleIn Cosmoplitan’s article, “Two spots he’s dying for you to touch,” you can read a long list of reasons why touching your man’s balls is really, really hot. “His testicles are actually covered by a thin layer of muscle that extends into his abdomen, so as he gets more excited, he experiences pleasurable contractions that radiate throughout his body, magnifying his climax,” says clinical sexologist Rachel Ross, MD, PhD. However, before or after the explosive climax, I challenge you to magnify your focus on performing a routine self-less exam on your man, which could save his life.

As women, we are constantly reminded about self-examination to prevent breast cancer, and as women, we should encourage our men to join in on this practice. We need to remind the men in our lives to take preventative measures with regards to their health.

First, let’s get educated.

There are many potential risk factors with regards to the nuts in our life, but the truth is no ball sack is safe. Lets throw the ball around a bit and get a better idea of what we’re talking about:

Testicular Cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells and without early detection, can potentially spread to other parts of the body. In fact, 90% of all TC starts in the germ cells, or in laymen terms their potential swimmers. The warning signs are simple, but not easy to juggle (see what I did there): Feeling a lump or pain in the testes, Heaviness or dragging feeling in the lower abdomen or scrotum, Dull pain in the abdomen and groin are all signs of concern.

Now, back to the magnified climax…

This weekend, get some red-hot lingerie, read a page out loud of 50 Shades of Grey, put on his blindfold and play ball. Pay extra attention to anything that may be irregular. A gentle squeeze or slight tug is all you need to ensure you protect the family jewels, and let’s face it, he’s going to enjoy the extra attention. It is good practice to perform a routine exam monthly, although some men would tell you a daily exam is what’s necessary.

Now, are you ready to get dirty?

For Valentine’s Day, I have saved a present just for you. Adam Levine may have the voice, Cosmo may have the instructions, the ladies of the Mr. Ballsy Team may have the facts… but feast your eyes… Mr. Ballsy has the scar, and of course lots of other complimentary features. You’re welcome.

I know you’re all probably distracted by Mr.Ballsy bearing it all, and we have to admit he’s rocking it better than Adam Levine’s shoot with cosmopolitan UK for Testicular Cancer awareness. The one thing we can learn from these two men is:

Detection can be sexy, and we want you to make it intimate on Valentine’s Day.

Throw Back Thursday | Scars and Silver Linings

By | Throw Back Thursday | No Comments

Cancer is serious. Cancer is scary. Cancer is sometimes… a blessing.

L to R Ryan, Thomas (Mr. Ballsy) and Peter at Thomas’s first event, “Fighting Cancer is Ballsy.”

While going through treatments in the hospital, Thomas Cantley laid in a hospital bed, choosing to document everything during his diagnosis process. The documentary is about his lifeas he was inevitably the lead role as a kid in his 20s battling testicular cancer.

Ryan pictured on the left was in the hospital bed next to him, baring the same abdominal scar after enduring his surgery for testicular cancer.  He was just 17 years old and scared to death. He and Thomas battled together and kept each other sane through their journey together.

Pictured on the right is Peter Bovolaneas, actor and testicular cancer survivor. When Thomas began his journey as a survivor, building his, ”Ballsy,” campaign, he reached out to individuals within the TC community for advice. He found Peter, 6 years his senior and a so-called, “veteran.” Peter suffered two TC relapses in his diagnosis and lost both testicles. Even in remission he remained positive and became a great role model for Thomas.

Peter and Thomas became best friends supporting each other in all of their endeavors. Peter flew to Thomas’s first event, “Fighting Cancer is Ballsy,” to be the host and MC which is pictured above. They’ve become such close compadres that Peter asked Thomas to be in his wedding.

When Thomas Cantley was diagnosed with stage three testicular cancer, he felt the same shock, depression, confusion and desperation that every new TC patient feels. He then fought for his life, making it to the light at the end of the tunnel. He now bares the scar of so many other men who consider themselves members of the TC community. They support and learn from each other everyday.

What’s the silver lining?  Testicular Cancer changes you. It molds and reshapes you, mentally, emotionally and physically. Thomas Cantley did not just choose to become Mr. Ballsy, the role of Mr. Ballsy chose him and he continues to share his story to encourage awareness, education and hope to every patient, survivor and individual affected by this diagnosis. Join the Mr. Ballsy team and let’s fight the battle together.

#BeBallsy, get tested and keep fighting the good fight. Happy #TBT.
